Psst…I have a special gift for you at the end of this post!
It’s that time of year in homeschool circles: we feel there’s no time to get ready, no time for our children to study everything we want them to, and certainly no time to slow down and meet our children where they’re actually at.
It reminds me of what my mom used to say, “Hurry is the Devil’s middle name.”
Dear mama, this year, please make haste slowly:
Make haste slowly in your preparations.
Make haste slowly in your studies.
Make haste slowly in your course corrections.
It may take longer to arrive, but you and your children will get there with your souls intact.
I created this 8.5×11 print as a pretty reminder to make haste slowly. You can hang it on your wall, or place it in your planner — wherever it will make you smile. No email address required!

This is a good reminder for me. I was thinking the other day about one of my sons and how will I get him ready for high school. I started to get really stressed out and wondered if I should just let someone else do it. Then I refocused and told myself to focus on a few key things as was advised to me. I am always wanting to dive in with both feet without considering if there might be a better way. Thanks for the reminder that pouring well into a few targeted subjects will make a greater impact that dabbling in many! Hugs, dear friend…
